Michael Thornton

Michael joined Definia in August 2025, bringing over a decade of public sector transformation expertise to his Senior Director role, whilst continuing to lead the Public Sector division at Investigo, part of The IN Group alongside Definia.

Since starting at Investigo back in 2014, Michael has worked his way up to Senior Director & Operating Board Member. He has ample experience in business change and transformation, leading major programmes across IT and digital transformation, HR and people change, and commercial and finance functions across central and local government.

Michael sits in that sweet spot between traditional resourcing and consultancy, partnering with clients to deliver tangible transformation outcomes with an approach that's honest, driven and passionate. He's a firm believer in providing real value, both in terms of actual delivery and the cost of getting there.

When he's not driving transformation programmes, Michael leads The IN Group's charity committee, spearheading the annual charity bike ride. Outside of work, he takes German lessons, having previously lived and worked in Berlin, and enjoys road cycling and the presence of trees.
