Introducing our new Senior Consultant, Mujahid Ali

Meet , Mujahid Ali, Definia’s newest Senior Consultant, who joined the team in October 2026. Starting his career as an apprentice at PwC at age 19 and working his way through to Senior Consultant, Mujahid brings a distinctive, ground-up perspective on commercials, strategy, change, delivery and PMO.

Marketing Manager Alice Hankin sat down with him to learn more about his background, his take on transformation and what he’s most looking forward to in this new chapter.

My route into consulting was a little unconventional. I joined PwC as an apprentice at 19 and worked my way through to Senior Consultant, which meant getting stuck into a wide variety of projects and wearing a lot of different hats along the way. Much of my work has spanned commercials, strategy, change and delivery and PMO, and that breadth has shaped how I think about transformation.

As a Senior Consultant, my focus is on helping clients identify the nuances within their own organisation, understanding what’s going well, where there’s room to improve and how to get there. That means working closely with stakeholders to identify risks, resolve challenges, improve processes and ensure programmes stay aligned with business objectives.

I want to be someone clients can rely on to see the bigger picture while staying close to the detail that actually makes a difference.

In your view, what are the biggest challenges facing businesses today when it comes to change and transformation?

Decisions being made without involving the people who run day-to-day operations. Too often, change is driven from the top down, which provides structure, but not always the insight needed to make it land.

My view is that a change team needs to be involved from the very beginning of a programme, not brought in after the key decisions have already been made. Structure matters, but communication needs to be at the forefront of every stage of the process — and that only happens when the right people are in the room early enough.

What are you most looking forward to in this new role at Definia?

Taking a bigger step in terms of responsibility and being known as a key contact within the business. I’m also genuinely curious about what growth looks like from the inside of a consultancy, rather than advising on it from the outside. Coming from a Big Four background, that shift in perspective is something I’m looking forward to.

Outside of work, what do you do for fun?

I’m in the process of opening a steak restaurant in Walthamstow with my dad. He’ll own and run the place, but I’ve been working in the background sourcing everything. Cooking is a real passion of mine, and I love exploring food from different cultures. I’ve even tried Durian, widely considered the world’s smelliest fruit. My recommendation: try it at least once, purely for the experience.

I also run my own mentorship programme, helping students secure degree apprenticeship offers in financial services. So far I’ve supported over 50 students, with around 46 offers received, and I’ve partnered with organisations including UpTree, Young Professionals, UCAS and Future Leaders UK along the way.
