A global insurance firm initiated three projects in parallel to one another in order to streamline their systems, advance their technology and further understand their data:

  1. Guidewire solution – to move the handling of their claims from the COLE tool to Guidewire ClaimCenter in order to have one consolidated claims handling system across their business.
  2. Reinsurance claims – implementing a single claims system suitable for international company reinsurance claims, through RFP responses.
  3. Claims data – focused on data cleansing and data analysis in claims specifically to improve their business decisions in this area.


Definia deployed a project manager to oversee all three projects, performing an initial scope, evaluating current state and defining the roadmap to delivery. Our project manager is also leading the teams aligned to each project.

Our project team are supported by a Definia delivery manager, who carries out status and performance reporting, responds to consultant queries and conducts stakeholder management. It is important to our client that internal resources are also utilised to ensure successful adoption and retain IP within the organisation. Our engagement model allowed the client to maintain control, while Definia took the accountability and risk in delivery.

The solution
The Outcome


Our client’s desired outcome is to replace several manual systems with one consolidated claims handling system to enable efficiencies, increase visibility and improve processes. In addition, one consolidated system will provide better understanding of their claims handling process and increased visibility into their data for analysis and knowledge.
