Meeting Definia’s associate network: a chat with Christina Cowling
Everything we do at Definia revolves around the strength of our relationships. A key part of that are our associates.
Next in our series of interviews with our Definia associates, Christina Cowling talks to us about her roles within Mars Incorporated and how her role has evolved to become a linchpin in the finance transformation program.
What is your current role and at what company?
I have had the privilege of working as a contractor for Mars for over two years, and my journey with this iconic company has been nothing short of transformative. Initially stepping into the role of Change Lead for a major procurement initiative that had a global impact on all Mars vendors, I was immediately immersed in the dynamic and forward-thinking culture that defines Mars.
What does this entail?
In the ever-evolving landscape of Corporate Finance, my role has evolved to become a linchpin in Mars’ Finance Transformation program. Working closely with program leads and sponsors, I’ve been at the forefront of ushering in new ways of work. Currently, my attention is dedicated to the implementation of a cutting-edge finance consolidation system, embracing industry best practices, and standardizing financial reporting. Additionally, I am working on the introduction of a ground-breaking data asset, which will greatly improve Mars’ internal management reporting.
How do you work closely with Definia?
Central to the success of these endeavours is the unwavering support I receive from Definia. They not only fulfil my resource requirements with unmatched efficiency but also act as a bridge, connecting me with key contacts within both Mars and Definia. This collaboration goes beyond mere transactions; it’s about sharing insights, forging connections with like-minded professionals, and understanding the broader landscape of change within Mars. Definia isn’t just a service provider; they are a strategic partner, an integral part of the journey toward Mars’ future success.
How did you first become involved with the Definia team?
My introduction to Definia came through Investigo, a key supplier on a project I worked on before joining Mars. The seamless transition between projects was a testament to the robust network that the entire IN Group offers to clients and the incredible opportunities it provides to candidates. Having experienced both sides of the spectrum – as a customer and a contractor – I deeply appreciate the comprehensive range of resourcing options that Definia and the entire IN group bring to the table.
How have you stayed in touch with the Definia team?
Kieren, my main point of contact at Definia, has become more than just a professional associate – we talk on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. Our conversations extend beyond project updates; we leverage each other’s networks and insights, fostering a collaborative environment that transcends traditional client-contractor relationships. Being part of this team isn’t just about fulfilling a role; it’s about contributing to the collective success of Mars, with opportunities to engage in new work pitches and actively shape the company’s future.
In conclusion, my journey with Mars, supported by Definia and the wider IN Group, has been a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships. Together, we are not just navigating change; we are driving it, ensuring that Mars continues to lead the way in innovation and excellence. I am proud to be a part of this incredible journey and look forward to the continued success that our collaboration promises.
